I’m Doctor Reid L. Winick, D.D.S. For nearly 20 years I’ve devoted my life and my practice to using holistic, natural solutions hand-in-hand with the latest technologies in the practice of dentistry. Using all the knowledge and skills of conventional dental medicine -- along with disciplines of alternative, holistic dental therapies -- we strive to provide our patients with biocompatible, esthetic, comfortable, functional, and enduring dental and prosthetic placements.
Reid L. Winick, D.D.S. is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. He has extensive experience in general dentistry, the Oral Systemic Link, as well as in TMJ and craniofacial disorders. Dr. Winick is the founder and president of Dentistry for Health New York, a green and sustainable dental practice designed as a haven for overall wellness. He is committed to the environment and to the health and wellness of his patients' mind, body, and spirit.
Being a national lecturer to medical doctors and other health care providers, patients from all over the US, seek out Dr. Winick's personalized treatment systems for a second opinion regarding additional options in their treatment on how to save their teeth without painful gum surgery and extractions. Patients report that Dr. Winicks' sustainable wellness programs have virtually elliminated the need for them to have periodontal surgery or the need for dental implants.
Dr. Winick is past co-founder and director of the Facial Pain/TMJ Clinic at NY Eye & Ear Infirmary. In addition, Dr. Winick is the co-founder of Herbal Difference organic products for treatment of periodontal wellness. He has completed numerous continuing education courses with an emphasis on TMJ & cervical dysfunction, neural therapy and biological dentistry. Dr. Winick also lectures, writes, and teaches on green dentistry, TMJ, head, neck & facial pain.
Lucia Birkenfeld, DMD is a graduate of New York University Dental School. She holds a board certified post- doctoral degree in pediatric dentistry. She has served as clinical professor and research/teaching fellow at NYU School of Dentistry. Her many credits include Director of the NYU Outreach program to Refuah Health Center as well as Visiting Scientist at the Department of Anatomy Medical University of RWTH Aachen, W. Germany and Instructor in the Dept. of Pediatrics, Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, Jerusalem, Israel.
Dr. Birkenfeld's many publications include studies on Glass-Ionomer sealant retention, clearance and metabolism of starch foods in the oral cavity and activity of human serum in the degradation of gram-positive bacteria. She has lectured extensively on the subjects of materials and their effects regarding microleakage and scanning electron microscope evaluation within the pediatric realm.
Her current projects include research on gingival crevicular fluid in children affected with early childhood caries, developmental implications of congenital acquired immune deficiency syndrome on primary dentition and gene polymorphism in children as a predictor for future adult periodontitis. Dr. Birkenfeld is committed to the overall health and dental care of children through h education and preventive measures.
Hi, I am Linda J Golden DDS and have been in private practice for about 20 years. My interest in biological dentistry is a patient driven adventure. I was getting so many questions about a more natural approach to what we put into and on our bodies and found I could answer none of these questions. So the journey began and has been part of my ongoing life-mission ever since!
I have joined the team of Dentistry for Health .NY which employs all the finest qualities in delivering holistic and natural solutions for dental care. Our practice delivers this dental care with the latest technologies available in the practice of dentistry.
I have spent countless hours being educated in the newest technologies such as laser therapies, digital radiography, CEREC technology, Ozone therapy and much, much more. I participated in a two year program with Dr. Rau and the Paracelsus Biological Medicine Program. I am dedicated to working closely with patients and their health care professionals such as nutritionists, naturopaths, QRA trained professionals, or general practitioner to ensure a patients optimal wellness. As an integrative practice you will find that there is the utmost importance placed on treating the entire patient, and not just the teeth.

Dr. Etess is certain to impress you with his high level of skill and technical proficiency. He utilizes the most state of the art equipment and cutting edge techniques, allowing him to provide a predictable, pain free, expedient experience. “Dr. Jeff”, as he is affectionately known by his pediatric patients, has a keen ability in treating this often challenging population. Dr. Etess is compassionate, caring and empathetic to his patients’ concerns and always goes to great lengths to ensure their comfort with whatever treatment may be necessary. His “chairside” personality always puts patients at ease. Dr. Etess resides on Long Island with his wife and three daughters, and is proud to be able to serve his local community in a profession that he is so passionate about.
Dr. Jeffrey Etess completed his undergraduate studies from State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. In 1997, Dr. Etess was awarded his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry (D.M.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he ranked among the top 10% of his graduating class. In 1998, he attended an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. This highly competitive program was a year-long apprenticeship providing advanced training in general dentistry, as well as subspecialties which include: oral surgery, anesthesia, implantology, prosthodontics, pediatric dental care, dental care for the developmentally disabled, and the management of medically compromised patients. For the next two years, Dr. Etess attended the prestigious New York University School of Dentistry, where he earned his post doctorate Endodontic Certification in 2000.
Currently, Dr. Etess has returned to school to obtain his degree and Board Certification in Integrative Biological Dental Medicine (I.B.D.M.) and Naturopathic Medicine (N.M.D.) at The American College of Integrative Medicine & Dentistry… he anticipates his graduation in February of 2016. Such a complete and extensive education enables Dr. Etess to perform all aspects of root canal therapy, including routine as well as complex procedures, endodontic retreatments, pulp capping, endodontic revascularization, and all facets of endodontic and implant surgery. Dr. Etess has been trained in Biomimetic Dentistry, allowing him to expand upon the regular ‘holistic’ type of dental treatment, and take it to the next level by reconstructing teeth the way nature intended, only using the latest biologically compatible materials.

Nancy Liebov is a bilingual registered Professional Dental Hygienist who has been working for “Dentistry for Health NY” since 2007. She specializes in Periodontal Soft Tissue Management with a holistic approach that recognizes the oral- systemic connection.
Nancy was awarded “Best Clinician” upon her graduation from Farmingdale State of New York Dental School. She is currently a member of Beta Kappa, the honor society for outstanding dental hygienists. Nancy is on the cutting edge of the latest procedures and technologies in dental hygiene. She understands and teaches her patients how the health of our digestive system affects our total oral health. Her years of “hands on” research and training has prevented the need for gum surgery in her practice at Dentistry for Health NY and Oral Systemic Dentistry.
Nancy was a licensed dentist in Bogota, Colombia where she practiced general dentistry for 14 years. Her love for dentistry and health led her towards hygiene where she is committed to preventing disease that can lead to serious dental problems and also to serious systemic illness. She loves working with the state-of-the-art equipment and holistic techniques that are used at Dentistry for Health NY and Oral Systemic Dentistry. Nancy believes that her purpose as a dental hygienist is to teach her patients to maintain healthy gums, based on the premise that healthy gums can prevent serious life threatening diseases such as heart attack, diabetes, stroke and Alzheimer’s.
Nancy treats her patients on an individual basis and considers their unique lifestyles and health needs in her treatment plans. She understands how to get results and guides her patients towards optimal health.
Nancy’s hobbies go from Opera, musical shows, movie theaters to bicycling, hiking and being in contact with Mother Nature.
Tammy Kohlschmidt is a a frontrunner as a Licensed Dental Hygienist and as a Certified Thermography Technician. She has a special interest in the Oral Systemic Link and in Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy using Lasers.
By combining Thermal Imaging and Periodontal Therapy she has made connections between the mouth and body that address The Oral Systemic Link. Tammy believes the mouth and body share an ecosystem that must be treated as a whole to obtain sustainable health. Tammy has intertwined her intuitive healing abilities and her love for energetic medicine as a Certified Body Talk Practitioner. She has also trained in Nutritional Evaluations using the Zyto technology. She has integrated Thermal Imaging, Periodontal Therapy, Energetic and Spiritual Healing with Nutritional Evaluations, as a better way for sustaining health and well being. Tammy believes that health and well being is a reflection of spirit, belief systems, energetic fields, body structure and body chemistry.
Tammy is a founding member of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health. She is a member of Dentistry for Diabetics, Centers for Dental Medicine, Thermography Unlimited, and the International Body Talk Association. She has co-hosted a national radio show on Sustainable Dentistry, she teaches and lectures on Thermography and is currently co-hosting the show Sustainable Dentistry- A Better Way with Dr. Reid Winick on Manhattan Cable, channel 57.

Tammy’s free time is spent as a dancer, choreographer and dance instructor.
With over twenty years of experience in the medical and dental field, relocating from Orlando, Florida in 2012, Cynthia joined our practice in 2015. Cynthia graduated from Middlesex County College and majored in Business Management in Finance and Marketing. She brings to our practice her professionalism and expertise in assisting our patients with care and understanding and with a proficient knowledge of processing Insurance claims and appeals. Cynthia is also well versed and experienced in obtaining 3rd party, interest free financing to alleviate the burden of many patients budget concerns. Her goal is to give our patients peace of mind that our staff is here to assist you with your treatment plans, appointments, financing, and experience a smooth transition into the practice. From the first call, first visit and at the end of your visit Cynthia makes you feel very comfortable and assures that you have had an enjoyable experience with our practice. Paola Pichardo was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to New York when she was 13 years old. A mother of two amazing energetic young boys. She joined our dental team October 2015 her role in the practice as the Personal Assistant to the Office Manager, she has proven to be computer wizard and a very efficient worker not only does she coordinate very complex schedules for the office, but she also makes sure the dental insurance companies are behaving as well. Paola is fluent in English & Spanish. A wonderful addition to the practice.
Grew up in a civil servant household in Queens. Her mother a nurse and father a NYC yellow taxi driver is what lead Katiana to grow up with compassion and desire to help others. At 18 she joined the U.S Air Force and proudly served and toured the world for 4 years as an air crew communication specialist. After serving her country Katiana began her dental/medical career in a small dental office in Long Island. Almost 20 years later she is still filled with compassion instilled from her mother and desire to help others from her father. Her duties in a dental office give her the satisfaction of communicating and helping others, skills and traits she’s acquired from the U.S Air Force.
Natacha joined our practice July 2016. She was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and moved to NYC when she was seven years old. Newly engaged, she lives in Harlem NY where she raised her princess Madison who is two years old. Before joining our practice Natacha had a strong background in customer service. She brings to the office a warm and calm demeanour that reassures our patients that they will receive the very best dental care. Her warmth and patience makes her a great asset to our practice.
With a strong desire to learn the latest advancement in dental care and technology are what first attracted Eric to DFHNY. Eric joined our practice January 2016. A native of Harlem, New York. Eric received his dental education at Columbia University. Eric’s interest in dentistry make him a perfect fit for our office. His gentle nature makes him a favorite with patients and his fellow team members. Eric brings more than 12 years of general dentistry experience to his role. He loves the opportunity to work the leading technology that holistic dentistry provides.
Duffy has been a dental assistant for over 10 years. Denise has always been fascinated with the medical field and patient care. This passion is what lead her to her career in dental assisting. Although Denise is highly experienced in many aspects of a dental practice ,she believes her specialty is providing comfort & care to her patients and assisting the doctor chair-side. She has been a part of our team since July 2016 and is affectionately referred to as ‘D-nice”, because of her pleasant and professional disposition. Denise is a wonderful addition to our practice.
Letisha discovered her interest of Dentistry while visiting her Grandfather who is a Dentist in her hometown of Guyana. As a young girl her long conversations with her Grandfather on the rides home from his office were captivating. The relationship he fostered with respect to his patients and the admiration he received in return resonated with her. Letisha has been assisting proudly in this field for over 5 years and not only does it reward her with the nostalgia of her childhood memories but she too is now respected and admired by her patients. Letisha affectionately referred to as Minnie Mouse because of her enthusiastic attitude joined our team in July 2016 providing great care, patience and warmth in assisting our patients. Letisha loves being a dental assistant.
Erica joined our team October 2016. Erica has been a dental assistant for five years. In addition to being able to support her 7 year old daughter she enjoys her job because it enables her to make people feel comfortable when they are traditionally most afraid. The highlights of her day include being able to make her patients laugh and feel better about their smile. Erica truly loves being a dental assistant.
Masha Gelman is a graduate of NYU School of Dental Assisting and has been Dr. Winick's Head Assistant for the past 19 years. Masha's professional and reassuring manner puts her patients at ease. Masha is fluent in English, Russian and Lithuanian.
