Sedation Dentistry FAQs

Will I feel pain?

Most patients feel no discomfort whatsoever during their treatment and feel surprisingly good afterward. There may only be mild discomfort when the sedation is administered, but this can be reduced through the use of a local anesthetic.

Will I be awake?

You’ll receive just enough sedation so that you’ll be completely unaware of the treatment, as you would if you were asleep.

Will I remember it?

At the end of the treatment, you’ll have little or no memory of your dental visit.

Will I be groggy after?

You will feel just fine. For your safety, we do require that you have a family member or friend drive you home. Some patients may experience mild nausea, but this usually passes quickly.

Is insurance accepted?

We’ll review your insurance coverage and, if necessary, make financial arrangements to ensure you get the dental care you need.

Is it safe for me?

Before starting any treatment, we review your medical history, and we monitor you very closely while you’re under sedation.
